“Scientific inquiry is a distinct way of finding answers to interesting questions and solutions to important problems about the natural world locally, nationally and globally.”  (Science & Technology K-6 Syllabus, p.14)

This Key Learning Area of study is informed by the NSW Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum in Science and Technology K-10 Curriculum Syllabus.

Learning in this Key Learning Area enables students in Years K-6 to develop their knowledge, understanding of and skills in applying the processes of working scientifically and working technologically.

  • Students will develop their knowledge of the Natural Environment through understanding about the Physical World, Earth and Space, and Living World
  • Students will develop their knowledge of the Natural Environment and Made Environment through the Material World
  • Students will develop their knowledge of the Made Environment through Built Environments, Information and Products

Like all Key Learning Areas, assessment of, for and as the learning takes places is paramount to evaluate students’ gains in the learning process.
